I sincerely feel a sense of great loss following the death of this great football legend. For every child that grew up in the ’70s and ’80s, Pele was a household name. Many in our generation who had exceptional talent in football were nicknamed Pele. He was a brand- a quality brand that fascinated football enthusiasts of his time and those of generations after his. Since reading that he was not responding to chemotherapy and was being administered palliative, it dawned on me, like everyone else, that the end was near—the end of a glorious era. Just like Muhammad Ali, Pele had left indelible marks in the sands of time. The History of football will never be complete without featuring his remarkable accomplishments. Adieu Pele, the Greatest footballer of all times!
